The Town of Greater Napanee would like to remind those out on the water to keep an eye out for “Courtesy No Wake Zones throughout the Napanee River. Wakes from water crafts can cause short- and long-term damage to the environment and the species living in and around the water. Damages include erosions along shorelines, damages to docking facilities and other water crafts, disruptions to animal habitats and increased danger to swimmers. To reduce the effects of wake damage, the Town has installed “Courtesy No Wake Zone” signs along the Napanee River to notify water craft operators to slow down in areas along the shorelines. The Town is planning to install buoys in the spring of 2019 as additional enforcement for the “Courtesy No Wake Zones”.
