It was a busy long weekend for Napanee OPP. Officers charged 85 drivers with speeding on local highways and 3 for driving at least 50km/h over the speed limit. On Saturday an officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 near Belleville. Around 2:30am a sedan passed his cruiser in the fast lane travelling at 191km/h. The driver initially didn’t stop for the officer and when he did, the officer noted the accused had been drinking. The 26 year old Belleville man was charged with Stunt Driving and failing to stop for police. His license was suspended after blowing a “warn” into a Roadside Screening Device. On Sunday an officer was conducting radar on Bridge Street West in Napanee. The officer stopped a vehicle for travelling 133km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. Officers with the Highway Safety Division who work out of the Napanee detachment charged 251 drivers over the long weekend as part of Operation Impact.
