Morningstar Mission Homeless Symposium

On October 10th 2018 it is World Homeless Day! Morningstar Mission (and friends) will be hosting a special evening. Please join us to come together as a community to engage in a raw, open and meaningful discussion about Homelessness in our own backyards. We are going to take you on a journey unlike any other. Homelessness through the eyes of your neighbours, your church congregation members, your community professionals....

You will hear stories that will change your life. THIS is "our" problem, these are our friends, our brothers, sisters, mothers & fathers...

If it has made you uncomfortable hearing about the Homelessness - this is healthy! As caring community members we should be! If you were surprised to find out there "is" a homeless issue (in your area) and wondering what you can do to help - You Need To Be here!! The journey of the evening will both break your heart with real accounts and stories ......but also leave you feeling hopeful! We have it in us to find solutions, to begin we must educate ourselves and own this issue as a community. There is limited space available. To attend you will need to RSVP to the Morningstar mission - tickets will become available Beginning Sept 4th 2018. (TBD where tickets will be held) This special night will be free to the public and include an amazing meal including appetizer / full course meal and dessert. We will be accepting donations for "Coldest night of the Year" a special fundraiser that addresses Homelessness specifically the challenges in inclement weather. Donations at the door in the form of money or supplies. Suggestions for supplies: Sleeping bags, Hats and Mitts, Warm socks, New and gently used winter boots / and jackets, Tim Hortons - often used to be able to stay in a Tim Hortons as a patron to avoid cold weather, Can Openers - manual, Non Perishable Food Items. (specially self opening such as pull tab food cans) Single Serving-juice / water / pop, Toiletries - Tooth Brushes, tooth paste, Blankets and Pillows, New and gently used Gym Bags. We will be accepting Cash donations at the door. Receipts available for donations made over $10 in value
