The Superintendent of Education at the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is pleased with the recent EQAO results.
The Province’s Ministry of Education released the results from the Education Quality and Accountability Office on Friday.
Sonya Melim says they are still unpacking the results of the tests but believes it looks promising.
A news release from the Education Minister Paul Callandra on Friday noted that while they are encouraged by the results there is still more work to be done. He says too many students continue to struggle, achievement gaps persist and results remain uneven across the province.
Callandra has directed the ministry to work directly with every school board to review its student achievement plan, monitor progress and report back.
Melim says ALCDSB is always looking at ways to help students improve.
Melim says the board is also looking to expand assessments beyond Grades 3, 6, and 9.
She says the statistics show the work the board has been doing over the last few years with students has been successful.
