Residents and visitors in Prince Edward County may notice increased military activity this weekend as Canadian Armed Forces personnel take part in training near Ameliasburgh.
The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment will conduct infantry training on private property from Friday, Sept. 25, to Sunday, Sept. 27.
The training is being held under an official Land Use Agreement. The public may see military vehicles and uniformed personnel carrying service weapons during the exercise.
Officials say there is no risk to public safety from the training. Only blank ammunition will be used.
There will also be no road closures or traffic disruptions connected to the exercise.
Canadian Army Reserve members train regularly to maintain and improve their skills. Training in rural and urban settings helps prepare personnel for Canadian Armed Forces missions in Canada and around the world.
