Greater Napanee council has proclaim Oct. 21 as Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.
The request was submitted by CUPE Social Services Coordinator Christina Gilligan. Council has approved the proclamation in each of the past three years.
The annual day recognizes the work, skills and commitment of early childhood educators and child-care workers who support young children and families.
The proposed proclamation notes that early learning and child care supports children’s intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. It also recognizes the role of trained educators in licensed child care, EarlyON programs and full-day kindergarten.
The 2026 theme is Care Counts, which highlights the importance of care work to children, families, communities and the economy.
