A 47-year-old Bloomfield resident has been charged with assault following an altercation involving a parking enforcement officer in downtown Picton.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of the incident on Thursday, Aug. 27. Police say the altercation happened after a parking infraction notice was issued to a vehicle.
Caley Mouland, 47, has been charged with assault. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Picton Court on Oct. 7.
The OPP is reminding residents that municipal enforcement officers and other public-facing workers play an important role in maintaining safe communities.
Police say disagreements over enforcement decisions should be handled through administrative or complaint channels and should not involve threats, aggression or violence.
