A 35-year-old from Montreal is facing a mischief charge after an Ontario Provincial Police officer allegedly observed them spray-painting graffiti on a commercial building in Picton.
The incident happened shortly after midnight on Aug. 26 while a Prince Edward County OPP officer was on patrol.
Police say the officer saw an individual spray-painting graffiti on the rear wall of a business and intervened immediately.
The suspect was arrested without incident and taken to the Prince Edward County OPP detachment.
The accused has been charged with mischief under $5,000. They were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Court in Picton on Nov. 4.
OPP are reminding residents and business owners to report suspicious activity and property damage, noting that graffiti and vandalism can result in costly repairs and affect local businesses.
