The deadline to file for the 2026 municipal election has passed, with several local mayors currently facing no confirmed opposition.
Stone Mills Township has confirmed Shari Milligan as mayor and Rob Fenwick as deputy mayor by acclamation. Terry Richardson is the only listed mayoral candidate in Greater Napanee, while Loyalist Township lists incumbent Jim Hegadorn as its sole candidate.
In Greater Napanee, Brian Calver is looking to serve a second term as Deputy Mayor, and will be running against Rennie Hutzler and Blair Campbell, who both filed their papers the few days leading up to the deadline. Looking at each ward, Mike Schenk in Ward 1 is the only councillor not opposed. In Ward 2, incumbent Angela Hicks is running against Jason McDonald. In Ward 3, incumbent Shawn Davey is running against Donald Stokes. In Ward 4, two new candidates are running, Michelle Edgar and Jeff Chestnut. In Ward 5, incumbent Bill Martin is running against Ron Yeomans.
Greater Napanee’s list of candidates remains unofficial.
In Loyalist Township, two candidates are looing to take the role of Deputy Mayor, Paul Proderick and Mike Budarick. Councillor Lorna Willis returns, as the only candidate listed for Ward 1. For the single Ward 2 seat, Larry Laird and Karla Thompson are both in the race. There are then eight names looking to fill the three seats for Ward 3, incumbents Jake Ennis and Carol Parks, as well as Lisa Anne Chatten, Ted McGrath, Brittany Grunig, Jennifer Shea, Will Hume and Mark Sansom.
Loyalist Township’s list of candidates also remains unofficial.
Stone Mills Township has confirmed their list of candidates, with nine candidates interested in one of the five councillor seats. Incumbents Wenda Lalonde and Krysta-Lee Woodcock looking for another term, along side Joe Condy, Andrew Garrett, Zach Lyam, Julie Nizman, Paul Rogers, Lisa Ross-Black and Frank Rowan.
The Lennox and Addington Chamber of Commerce is planning on running an All Candidates style meeting for Greater Napanee, Loyalist Township and Stone Mills Township. Stay tuned for details as they become available.
