The Best & Bash Arena in Greater Napanee is now more accessible after the Town completed the installation of push-button doors throughout the facility.
The project was supported by a $42,100 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which helped the Town improve access to the community arena.
The new doors are designed to make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to enter the arena and take part in recreational and community activities.
Hastings—Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee said accessible public spaces help ensure residents can participate with greater independence and dignity. “Accessibility and good design should not be afterthoughts. When we build and improve public spaces with everyone in mind, we create facilities that work better for the whole community. I’m so pleased to see the Ontario government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Gaming and Multiculturalism’s Ontario Trillium Foundation, make this investment helping make that vision a reality right here at home.”
The Town says improving access to municipal facilities is part of its goal of providing more recreation opportunities and improving residents’ quality of life.
Deputy Mayor Brian Calver said the improvements are an investment in both the arena and the community. “By making the arena more accessible, we are helping to ensure residents and visitors of all ages and abilities can participate in recreational and community activities.”
The Ontario Trillium Foundation invested nearly $107 million in 746 community projects across Ontario in 2025-26.
