The Kingston region is about to get hip… the Tragically Hip.
The City is hosting Forever Hip featuring a number of events at Springer Market Square to mark the 10th anniversary of the band’s final show on August 20, 2016.
Choir! Choir! Choir! is headlining the Rockin the Square event on Thursday. The show starts at 7 pm and will feature performances by a number of Kingston area musicians.
Friday is a day-long celebration culminating with a screening of the band’s 2017 documentary “A Long Time Running” starting at 8 pm.
Then on Saturday, the CBC will air an encore presentation of the Tragically Hip’s final concert in their hometown. The show will be screened at the square starting at 7 pm.
There is also Music from Miles Around, an exhibition on Kingston’s music scene with a section dedicated to the Tragically Hip. That is located inside Kingston City Hall.
All events are free to the public.
The City is reminding residents to be prepared for the weather as the events will go rain or shine. If you are coming down to see the documentary or the concert, you are asked to bring a lawn chair and blankets , and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
More information on the events can be found at the Tourism Kingston website.
