Ontario is investing more than $10.9 million to help nearly 2,000 workers and jobseekers train for in-demand health-care careers.
The funding is part of the sixth round of the province’s Skills Development Fund Training Stream and will support 10 projects across Ontario.
The projects will provide specialized training, work placements, mentorship and career supports for nurses, personal support workers, medical laboratory technologists and other health-care workers.
Labour Minister David Piccini said the investment will create more pathways into health-care careers while helping employers find skilled workers.
The province says the latest funding round also includes stronger screening, risk assessment and tracking of employment outcomes at three, six and 12 months.
