Stone Mills Township council has decided not to sign a confidential information-sharing agreement with ALTO as the proposed high-speed rail project moves forward.
Council voted Aug. 10 not to enter into a non-disclosure, confidentiality or similar agreement with ALTO or its representatives. It also directed staff to ensure any future requests of that kind come before council.
Council also directed staff to create a dedicated ALTO information page on the township website. The page will provide residents with updates, council decisions, public notices, meeting dates and links to official resources.
Also during their meeting Monday night, Council addressed Rattie Road, directing staff to hire engineers for a $20,000 hydraulic and hydrology assessment. Staff will report back before any construction begins.
Other decisions included approving a new parkland dedication bylaw that sets a $2,500 cash-in-lieu fee for residential severances.
Council also supported making the doubled Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund permanent and backed a request for $400 million in annual funding.
The meeting also included support for local events, a $1,000 donation to the Yarker Riverside Cemetery Board and approval of a five-year county road maintenance agreement.
