An apartment complex owner and its sole director have been fined after failing to comply with an order related to drinking water requirements at a Kaladar property.
Orah Meadows Inc. was fined $3,000 plus a $750 victim fine surcharge under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Director Deborah C. Edwards was fined $1,000 plus a $250 surcharge. Both were given 24 months to pay.
Orah Meadows owns a seven-unit apartment complex on Station Road in Kaladar.
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks began investigating after receiving a water quality complaint about the property in May 2023. The ministry found the company had not registered its drinking water system, retained a certified operator or conducted regular water sampling.
After several attempts to achieve voluntary compliance, the ministry issued a Provincial Officer’s Order to Edwards and Orah Meadows. The order was not followed.
The convictions were registered Jan. 6, 2026, following an investigation by the ministry’s Environmental Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
