It’s TCO Agromart Growing Up On The Farm; local families building the future of agriculture — one generation at a time…fueled by Kubota.
Today we are looking at The Lambert Family…presented by Davis & Davis
Growing up on Lambros Dairy Farm north of Selby gave Reid Lambert an appreciation for agriculture and the commitment it takes to operate a family dairy farm.
Lambert said the farm was started in the 1990’s by his father, Brad Lambert, and uncle, Mark Lambert. After beginning on a rented farm near Deseronto, the family purchased its current dairy farm north of Napanee.
Looking back on his childhood, Lambert said, “Growing up on my farm… was pretty special,” adding that it allowed him to experience things many young people do not see today.
Although he and his siblings have begun to adventure into careers and interests outside the farm, they continue to help whenever they can.
A typical day starts at 5:30 a.m. with milking cows and feeding calves before seasonal field work begins. Evening milking starts again around 5 p.m.
Lambert said he is optimistic about the future, noting, “It’s definitely bright.”
For anyone considering a career in agriculture, he said dedication is essential. “It’s a lifestyle. It’s not a job,” Lambert said, adding that farming requires a full-time commitment every day of the year.
