The Ontario SPCA Lennox and Addington Animal Centre is reminding residents about upcoming programs and summer safety tips for pets.
Sara Vanderveer with the Ontario SPCA Lennox and Addington said a low-cost Neuter Scooter clinic will take place July 22, offering cat owners access to affordable spay and neuter services. The clinic will transport cats to a veterinary facility for surgery and return them the same day.
The clinic is open to cats between 12 weeks old and six years old, with additional options for microchipping and rabies vaccinations. Registration is available through the Ontario SPCA website and social media pages.
The organization is also looking for more foster families as kitten season continues. Vanderveer said foster homes help young kittens, senior cats and dogs who need a quieter environment than a shelter can provide.
The Ontario SPCA will also attend the upcoming Canine Water Sports event at Hollow Square Market in Newburgh from July 24 to 26. The fundraiser will feature dock diving competitions, vendors and activities for dog lovers.
With hot weather continuing, Vanderveer is reminding residents not to leave pets in vehicles, where temperatures can become dangerous within minutes.
