A former Napanee District Secondary School student returned home this week as part of one of Canada’s most recognizable traditions.
RCMP Officer Adam Huber, who graduated from NDSS in 2013, performed in Napanee with the RCMP Musical Ride Thursday night, making the visit especially meaningful for the local officer.

Huber is now based in Ottawa, where he has worked since 2020. He joined the RCMP Musical Ride in 2024 after serving six and a half years as an RCMP officer in Saskatchewan.
Although many assume Musical Ride members are lifelong riders, Huber said he had never been on a horse before applying.
“I’ve never ridden a horse,” he said. After completing a five-week basic equestrian course, he was selected for a nine-month training program, where he learned everything from riding and horse care to stable management.
Today, Huber rides a horse named Kasper and says the partnership has become a special part of his job.
During the touring season, members of the Musical Ride train full-time before travelling across Canada to perform. When the tour ends, they return to regular policing duties.
Huber’s mother, who attended the Napanee performance, said seeing her son ride was an unforgettable moment.
