Quinte Conservation is introducing self-serve kayak rentals at two local conservation areas as part of a new pilot project with Paddle Pod Canada.
The partnership brings rental kayaks to Depot Lakes and Massassauga Point Conservation Areas for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Visitors can use a mobile app to select a kayak, choose a rental period and unlock the equipment, which includes a life jacket and paddle.
The app also provides real-time alerts about weather conditions and possible water hazards.
Quinte Conservation says the program will give visitors a new way to explore the areas and enjoy time outdoors. The launch follows improvements at Depot Lakes Conservation Area, including a new swimming area, beach and relaxation space.
Kayak rentals will be available from July through late September, with prices starting at $17.99 for the first hour. If the pilot is successful, Quinte Conservation hopes to make the rentals a permanent feature at select locations.
