A.M. Sports in Greater Napanee has new local owners who say they are committed to keeping the longtime sporting goods store focused on serving the community.
New owner Kristy Moulton said the opportunity came after her son, who worked at the store for five years, learned the previous owner was considering selling.
Rather than see the business purchased by an outside company, the family reached out.
The new owners are already updating inventory by clearing out older products and adding new brands, including Hockey Benders merchandise and Hockey Stick Man products. They also plan to expand equipment and apparel for hockey, dance and local sports organizations.
Moulton said keeping the business local means continuing a tradition many residents remember.
Ron Moulton says they plan to grow the store’s custom apparel business for sports teams, reunions and community groups.
A grand opening is being planned for September and is expected to feature giveaways, prizes and a community barbecue.
