Community members will have an opportunity to honour and remember loved ones next month as Remembering by the River returns to Macpherson House and Park in Napanee.
The memorial butterfly release will take place on July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the banks of the Napanee River. The event is being organized by the Museum of Lennox & Addington in partnership with Bereaved Families of Ontario – Kingston Region.
The gathering is designed to provide a peaceful space for reflection and remembrance. Individuals, families and groups are invited to attend and take part in the shared experience.
Activities will include live guitar music, light refreshments and a collective butterfly release scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
Admission to the event is free. However, participants wishing to release a butterfly in memory of a loved one must purchase one in advance. Butterflies cost $25 each and must be ordered by June 25.
Butterflies can be purchased online through Bereaved Families of Ontario – Kingston Region or through the Museum of Lennox & Addington in Napanee.
Organizers are encouraging residents to register early to ensure butterflies are available for the event.
