A $150,000 grant tied to the FIFA World Cup 2026 will help the Prince Edward County Soccer Association build a new clubhouse for its growing soccer community.
The funding was announced by Airbnb through its FIFA World Cup 2026 Impact Program. Prince Edward County is one of four Ontario communities selected to receive support for soccer infrastructure and programming.
The soccer association, which has served the County since 1999, supports nearly 1,000 players ranging from young children to adults. It operates 73 teams and relies on volunteers and community sponsors.
The new clubhouse will provide secure equipment storage, meeting space, irrigation controls and a concession area. The project will also include plans for washroom facilities, water bottle refill access and future accessibility improvements.
Council previously declared the clubhouse a Project of Community Interest and approved it as part of the 2026 budget. PECSA has committed to raising $200,000 toward the project.
Construction is expected to begin this fall after the soccer season ends, with completion targeted before next season.
