Quinte Conservation has issued a shoreline conditions statement for the Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario as water levels continue to rise this spring.
Officials say heavy rain and melting snow have pushed Lake Ontario levels to 75.30 metres, with more increases expected through May or June. Forecasts suggest levels could reach between 75.40 and 75.50 metres if average weather conditions continue.
Quinte Conservation says strong winds combined with higher water levels could cause localized flooding in vulnerable shoreline areas. Residents in low-lying or flood-prone locations are being urged to stay alert and monitor changing conditions.
Officials note current forecasts remain below the record-high water levels seen in 2017 and 2019.
The conservation authority says it will continue monitoring wind, waves, and lake conditions for possible impacts.
The shoreline advisory remains in effect until May 28 unless updated earlier.
