The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is marking Catholic Education Week from May 3 to 8, 2026, with events focused on faith, learning, and community.
Held each year during the first week of May, the celebration brings students and staff together under a shared theme. This year’s theme, Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness, encourages reflection on spiritual growth and connection.
Schools across the board are hosting daily activities, including scripture readings, music, and classroom discussions designed to highlight Catholic values and student well-being.
The week will end with an awards ceremony on May 8 at the board office in Napanee. The event will recognize individuals who have made strong contributions to Catholic education.
Among those honoured are teacher Maureen O’Connor, office administrator Izabela Machan, and teacher Geoff Mackler. Several volunteers and students are also being recognized for their service and leadership within their school communities.
The board says the annual event is an important way to celebrate achievements and reinforce the role of faith-based education across the region.
