McDonald’s in Greater Napanee is getting ready to welcome the community for McHappy Day on Wednesday, May 6, raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
In the lead-up to the event, the restaurant has been collecting donations through round-up campaigns, along with selling $5 coupon booklets and $6 socks.
General manager Chris DeSousa shared with myFM the annual event, now in its 32nd year, is the restaurant’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
10% of all food sales will go toward RMHC in Toronto, which supports families with children receiving care at SickKids Hospital.
On the day itself, customers can expect a lively atmosphere, with local VIPs, a live band, and community partners like 88.7 myFM, CIBC and the fire department taking part. The mayor is also expected to attend.
RMHC provides a place for families to stay close to their children while they receive medical treatment in Toronto, helping ease the financial and emotional burden.
Staff say the event holds special meaning each year, especially when they hear directly from families who have benefited.
Those unable to attend are still encouraged to donate in-store or through ongoing round-up programs.
