The Ontario Provincial Police is warning the public about a graduation-season game known as “Senior Assassin,” now being played by some Grade 12 students in our region.
The game involves students using water guns to “eliminate” assigned targets, with the last person remaining declared the winner. Police say the activity is meant to be fun, but it can raise safety concerns when played in public.
Officers note that some water guns closely resemble real firearms, making it difficult for bystanders to tell the difference. This can lead to emergency calls and urgent police responses.
Police say officers must react based on what they see, without knowing the situation, which can create risks for students, the public and first responders.
The OPP is urging participants and families to use only water guns that clearly look like toys and to consider how their actions may be perceived in public spaces.
