A roadside inspection blitz on Highway 7 has led to charges, suspensions and vehicles taken off the road.
Two officers with the Lennox and Addington Ontario Provincial Police and a Quinte West Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team member carried out the commercial vehicle checks Saturday, focusing on safety and compliance.
Police conducted eight alcohol screening tests, with one commercial driver receiving a three-day suspension after registering a blood alcohol reading. Commercial drivers are required to have zero alcohol in their system.
Officers also completed eight detailed vehicle inspections, placing two trucks out of service for safety concerns. In total, two charges were laid and three warnings issued.
Police say one vehicle was found with alcohol and cannabis accessible in the cab.
Officials say the inspections help keep unsafe vehicles off the road and protect all drivers.
