A 67-year-old inmate has died at Bath Institution, according to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).
Officials say the man died Monday, April 20 of apparent natural causes after spending 42 years in custody. He had been serving a life sentence since March 15, 1984.
The inmate’s name has not been released due to a court-ordered publication ban to protect the identity of victims. CSC says next of kin have been notified.
As with all in-custody deaths, the CSC says it will review the circumstances. Police and the coroner have also been notified, in line with standard procedures.
