Greater Napanee celebrated the addition of a new 103-foot ladder truck to its fire service fleet on Friday.
Council, firefighters, and the community came together to take part in a ‘Push-In’ ceremony, to welcome to truck to its new home. We have a video of the ceremony on our Facebook page.
Leaders say the new apparatus will improve emergency response, especially at multi-storey buildings and complex incidents. Fire officials called it a major investment in safety for both firefighters and the community.
Mayor Terry Richardson says this new truck is a significant step forward in how we respond to emergencies.

Fire Chief Sean Armstrong thanked council for supporting the purchase and long-term planning. He said the new ladder truck replaces a 22-year-old unit and will serve for decades to come.
MPP Ric Bresee praised our firefighters, calling them the real heroes who rely on modern equipment to do their jobs safely. He also thanked council for approving the funding despite the cost of the project.
Deputy Fire Chief James Feeney said crews trained extensively on the new 103-foot KME aerial ladder before putting it into service.
Officials added that advances like stabilization systems, fall protection, and upgraded cab design will reduce risks for firefighters. They said the new truck is designed to be safer, smarter, and more effective during complex emergencies in the community.
The department thanked all staff involved in planning, logistics, and training to bring the truck into service.
