Habitat for Humanity Proposed Triplex - Image from Greater Napanee council presentation
Town of Greater Napanee council has declined a request for financial support for a proposed Habitat for Humanity project on Church Street. The request, presented on December 9, 2025, sought $659,750 from the town.
The proposed build would use pre-approved CMHC architectural plans, including a one-bedroom, one-bath unit on the ground floor and three-bedroom, two-bath units on the upper floors. Habitat for Humanity aims to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for families who do not qualify for conventional mortgages.
Council’s decision followed staff recommendations, noting the request was not included in the 2026 budget. Councillor Michael Schenk said the town cannot fund the project at this time. Staff suggested Habitat for Humanity work with the County of Lennox and Addington and Prince Edward Lennox and Addington Social Services to explore other options for the build.
