Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the region as snow continues to fall this morning. Residents can expect 5 to 10 centimetres of snow, with localized bursts of heavier accumulation reducing visibility in some areas. Due to snow received overnight and ongoing snow conditions on most secondary & side roads, all school bus and taxi transportation is cancelled in the Tri-Board Student Transportation Services service area today. Schools do remain open.
The snowfall is expected to taper off to flurries from west to east by late morning. Roads and walkways are likely to be slippery and difficult to navigate, and drivers are advised to prepare for deteriorating travel conditions. Motorists should allow extra time for travel and exercise caution while commuting.
The advisory highlights the potential for rapidly changing conditions in isolated areas, emphasizing the importance of staying updated on the latest weather reports. Environment Canada recommends that residents take appropriate precautions, including adjusting travel plans, clearing driveways and sidewalks, and ensuring vehicles are equipped for winter conditions.
Staying informed and cautious will help keep residents safe during this snow event.
