Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a bus rollover that sent several passengers to hospital near Odessa.
Police say the crash happened around 7:15 p.m. Sunday on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401, near Old Wilton Road in Loyalist Township. A commercial passenger bus entered the ditch and rolled over, prompting a large emergency response from Ontario Provincial Police, paramedics and local fire departments.
The bus was carrying 47 passengers and the driver at the time. Eight people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including cuts, broken bones and dislocations. They were taken to two local hospitals for treatment.
Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for about four hours while crews assisted passengers and cleared the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. OPP are asking witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage near Odessa to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
