Today we celebrate VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DAY on 88.7 myFM…
Deb Lowry has spent decades volunteering in Greater Napanee, inspiring others to get involved. Her dedication spans numerous local groups, including the hospital board, Napanee Golf Club, 100 Women Who Care L&A, Napanee Valley Cruisers, and Greater Napanee Connect.
Volunteering runs in her family. “I took after my mom’s lead, right through my work career, and since retirement in 2007, I’ve certainly had a lot more time to devote to volunteering,” Lowry said.
One of her favorite moments was helping organize the Guitars and Cars event. She called it “an event of events for Napanee,” and that they’re hoping to do it again this September.
Lowry adds volunteering is about community and connection. “Doing something you love for people you care about in your community, is really wonderful.”
She encourages people to start small. “Just start with something that interests you,” she said, noting that passion makes volunteering fulfilling.
