Lennox and Addington County is asking residents to share their input as it continues a major review of local agricultural land.
The county is conducting a Land Evaluation and Area Review study, known as a LEAR Study, to assess which lands should be considered prime agricultural areas. The work will help guide long-term planning and protect farmland across the region.
The study looks at soil quality, climate conditions, land use, and how farmland is divided. It is based on a model developed by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The project runs from February 2025 to July 2026 and includes several stages of public and stakeholder consultation. Draft maps and findings are now being shared.
Residents can attend public open houses on Wednesday, Feb. 4, and Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lennox and Addington County Courthouse in Napanee. A presentation will begin at 6:10 p.m. both nights.
More details are available at learstudy.ca.
