Selby Public School is hosting a bottle drive this Saturday, January 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise funds for student programs and school activities.
Jessica Blaker, chair of the parent council, said the event will help bring interactive experiences directly into the school, avoiding costly field trips and keeping programs free for families.
They’re looking to bring in some music production programs, Indigenous drumming, and even an educational zoo with live animals. This all stems from the success of a planetarium that visited the school last year.
Funds from the bottle drive will also support outdoor equipment to be used during recess like sleds, toboggans, shovels, and gym balls, along with classroom art supplies, to reduce costs for teachers.
Fundraising like this helps parent council provide experiences that enhance learning and play for students. The council encourages the community to stop by Saturday bring bottles and cans to support the school.
