The Town of Greater Napanee will carry out sanitary sewer flushing and inspections this week as part of routine maintenance.
The town says M. Cudd Infrastructure Inc. has been contracted to complete the work between January 5 and 9, 2026. Most residents are not expected to be affected, and no service disruptions are anticipated.
During the flushing process, some people may notice temporary odours, noise, splashing, or small spills. The work uses high-pressure water jets to clean sewer pipes, which can cause air or water to move through plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, showers, and floor drains.
Residents are encouraged to keep toilet lids closed and to pour at least two litres of water into infrequently used plumbing fixtures before and after flushing takes place. This helps ensure traps remain full.
Sanitary sewer flushing removes debris and buildup that can lead to blockages and sewer backups in homes. Camera inspections also allow staff to assess pipe conditions and address issues before they become more serious.
Questions can be directed to the Town of Greater Napanee Utilities Department.
