Shoppers heading to Walmart this Saturday are being urged to give a little extra to the Salvation Army kettle campaign, as donations will go further than usual.
Walmart Canada is matching all kettle donations made nationwide that day, up to a total of $100,000.
myFM spoke with Abby Mills, Napanee Salvation Army Director of Community Ministries, to learn more.
Donating is easy, even without cash. Kettles are equipped with Tip Tap machines that allow shoppers to give $5, $10, or $20.
Last year’s match day brought in about four-and-a-half times the usual donations after extra promotion boosted awareness.
Mills tells us this years kettle campaign is going well, and is currently above the dollar amount where we were this time last year. So they expect to see a big jump this Saturday.
The kettle campaign will wrap up at 4pm on December 24th.
