A charity hockey game in Picton is helping stock shelves at the Picton United Church Food Bank.
The Prince Edward County Ontario Provincial Police and the Prince Edward County Fire Department faced off December 13 at the Prince Edward Community Centre Arena. While the OPP came out ahead on the scoreboard, organizers say the real win was for local families in need.
Thanks to strong community support, the event raised 310 pounds of non-perishable food along with $105 in cash donations. Firefighters, police officers, families and residents attended the game and contributed to the cause.
Organizers say the donations will help support families during the busy holiday season and in the months ahead.
Residents who want to help further are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items directly to the Picton United Church Food Bank.
