Greater Napanee firefighters are spreading holiday cheer with their 19th annual toy drive and food basket campaign, starting with their biggest fundraiser of the season, the annual breakfast.
The event takes place Thursday, December 4 from 7-10 a.m. at Spuds and gives the community a chance to support families in need while enjoying a hearty morning meal.
Each year, the campaign collects toys, food, and donations to help local families celebrate Christmas. Last year, the firefighters supported 85 food baskets and provided gifts for 155 children.
Fire Prevention Officer Ashley Arnold told myFM their main goal is to give back to the community.
The Firefighters work with local schools and agencies to create gift lists and use donations to fill in what’s needed. This season, popular items include K-Pop Demon Hunters and Pokémon toys, among other favourites.
Firefighter Tina Duncan gave some more suggestions.
Donations can be dropped off at the Napanee Fire Hall, 66 Advance Ave., from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
