The Napanee Raiders are asking the Town of Greater Napanee to share some of the revenue from rink board ads to help offset the cost of live streaming their games.
Team executive Max Kaiser made the request during a deputation to council Tuesday, explaining that the team is now required by the PJHL to stream every home game.
Kaiser explained to council they’re a community-owned club with no big backer. They rely on gate receipts and fundraising to keep hockey affordable for local fans
The Raiders have had to install cameras and pay for a dedicated internet line at the Best & Bash Arena’s Goodyear Rink. They’re asking the town to raise ad rates—which are below market—and share only the extra revenue.
Councillor Mike Schenk encouraged that a staff report be brought back to council.
Council passed a motion to note and receive the deputation from the Napanee Raiders and further that Council direct staff to bring back a report regarding the request for Council’s consideration.
