The Napanee Raiders split a pair of games this weekend.
Friday night, the Raiders hosted the Port Hope Panthers. First period the Panthers struck first taking a 1-0 lead. Later in the period, Ryan McGee scored for the Raiders, assisted by Mason Goodfellow and Luke Jarmin, tying the game 1-1. The Raiders took a 2-1 lead in the second, thanks to a goal by Benn Kerr, assisted by Spencer Cranley and Mason Goodfellow. Mason Goodfellow then scored early in the third, unassisted, to take a 3-1 lead. Port Hope then scored on the power play late in the period to bring them within one goal. That’s where we’d end scoring for the night. Raiders win 3-2! Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 20 saves on 22 shots on goal.
Sunday night, the Raiders made their first trip to Amherstview of the season to play the Jets. The Raiders were up 1-0 at the end of the first with a goal by Andrew Carr, assisted by Mason Goodfellow. The Jets then scored twice in the second period to take a 2-1 lead over the Raiders. Amherstview secured their lead with their third goal of the night near the half way point of the third period. Raiders’ Andrew Carr would then score, assisted by Ryan McGee and Eric Haher, to bring the Raiders within one goal. But the Jets would score once more in the empty net, for a 4-2 Jets win. Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 24 saves on 27 shots on goal.
