Two drivers are facing charges after separate driving-related incidents in Lennox and Addington County this week.
On Sunday, September 7, just after 4 a.m., OPP officers were called to County Road 19 in Loyalist Township after a vehicle went into a ditch. Police located the vehicle and arrested the driver. Nicholas Nieuwkoop, 23, of Napanee, was charged with impaired operation over 80 milligrams of alcohol, impaired operation with blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, and dangerous driving. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Greater Napanee on September 30.
The next morning, September 8, just after 7 a.m., police responded to a complaint about a possible impaired driver parked at a school in Bath. Following a short foot pursuit, 43-year-old Peter Valyear of Kingston was arrested. He faces drug, driving, and insurance-related charges, with a court date set for October 7.
