A piece of Napanee history is getting a modern makeover. For the first time in over 70 years, the iconic Napanee Beaver building on Dundas Street East downtown has new owners. Erica Sosnowski has purchased the building from the Morrison family, who had owned it since 1953.
Sosnowski is teaming up with Shalagh Elliott of SE Design to transform the former newspaper office into The Edit HQ — a state-of-the-art health and wellness centre. The main floor will host a variety of wellness services including physiotherapy and psychotherapy, while the upper level will feature four new apartments.
Renovations are underway, with plans to open in late 2025. The new name is a nod to the building’s editorial past. Sosnowski says she hopes to keep much of the building’s heritage, including lining the walls with historic Beaver front pages.
The Napanee Beaver newspaper will continue to operate remotely, unaffected by the building’s sale.
