A Toronto man is facing dangerous and stunt driving charges after being stopped by Ontario Provincial Police on Highway 401.
On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, around 10 a.m., officers from the Lennox and Addington County OPP detachment responded to calls about a fast-moving car swerving through traffic on the westbound lanes of the highway in Loyalist Township. Police quickly located the vehicle and safely stopped it west of Shannonville Road.
The driver, 31-year-old Simon Lauze of Toronto, was arrested without incident. He has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and stunt driving.
Lauze was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Napanee on July 8, 2025. Lauze’s driver’s licence was seized and suspended for 30 days. His vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Police are reminding drivers to obey speed limits and drive responsibly to keep roads safe.
