The South East Health Unit (SEHU) is warning the public about possible measles exposure at several locations across southeastern Ontario after confirming one new case of the virus.
Anyone who visited the following places on these dates and times may have been exposed:
- Tamworth Elementary School from April 3–10
- Tamworth Post Office on April 4 between 4:10 p.m. and 6:10 p.m.
- Lennox and Addington General Hospital ER on April 10 from 7 p.m. to 11:47 p.m.
- Cineplex Kingston on April 10 from 4:20 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Minecraft movie showing at 4:35 p.m.)
- Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital on April 11 from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
SEHU urges people to check their measles vaccination records. Anyone without two doses or lab-confirmed immunity should monitor for symptoms, stay home for 21 days after exposure, and contact their health provider.
High fever, cough, red eyes, and a rash may appear 7 to 21 days after exposure.
SEHU says those who are pregnant, immunocompromised, or with infants under 12 months should contact public health immediately.
