It was not the start to the semifinals the Raiders were hoping for in the Battle of L&A.
Friday, March 7, the Raiders hosted game 1 at the Best and Bash Arena. Amherstview led 2-0 at the end of the first, then doubled their score to end the second period 4-0. The Raiders had a powerful start to the third period, with two goals by Alex Case and Blake Aylesworth within 42 seconds of each other. Alex Case then poked it into the back of the net on the power play to bring the Raiders within 1 goal. Amherstview then solidified their win with two back-to-back goals within 14-seconds for a 6-3 final score. Shots on goal were 37-21 favouring the Raiders.
Sunday, March 9, the Raiders made to trip to Amherstview for game 2. Amherstview struck first in the first period with Reid Lambert quickly scoring for the Raiders to tie the game. The Jets scored early in the second period to regain their lead then scored once more to lead 3-1. But Napanee’s Ben White answered that with the Raiders second goal of the night for a 3-2 score. with less than 2 minutes left in the third period, the Jets scored their fourth of the night for a 4-2 final score. Shots on goal were 45-30 favouring the Raiders.
The Raiders are 4-2 so far in the playoffs and 0-2 in this series. Looking to the other Tod division matchup, Frankford is 5-1 in the playoffs and are now tied in their series with Lakefield 1-1.
