The Napanee Raiders split their last two games of the regular season, first expending their winning streak to 12 then losing their final game of the regular season.
Friday, February 14, the Raiders hosted the Amherstview Jets for their final home game of the regular season. Napanee’s Ben White opened the scoring two and a half minutes into the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Jets retaliated scoring their first of the game to end the period died 1-1. Ben White would go on to score his second of the night in the second period to regain the raiders 2-1 lead. Then the third period Alex Case and Andrew Carr both scored for the Raiders leading to their 4-1 win!
Saturday, February 15th, the Raiders made the trip to Frankford for their final game of the regular season. The Napanee Raiders scored first thanks to a goal by Matthew Airhart for a 1-0 lead. Frankford then scored twice in the second period to both tie the game and take the lead. With 51 seconds left in the third period, Frankford scored on the empty net to win the game 3-1.
As of the time of publication, the Napanee Raiders are sitting in first place in the East Tod Division standings with a 32-8-1-1 record and 66 points. They’re tied with the Frankford Huskies (33-8 record and 66 points), and are followed by Picton (55 points), Amherstview (54 points), Lakefield (51 points), Port Hope (25 points), Trent Hills (16 points), and North Kawartha (8 points).
No word yet as to when the Napanee Raiders will be back in action, but they will have home ice advantage and it’s looking like they’ll play Trent Hills in the first round of the playoffs. As soon as we know their scheduled we will let you know.
