A local initiative is giving lost mittens a second chance while helping students in need stay warm this winter. The Lonely Mitten Project is collecting single gloves and mittens in good condition, matching them up, and donating them to schools.
The project also accepts matched mittens, hats, scarves, and socks to support families while keeping textiles out of landfills.
Napanee District Secondary School’s Eco Club has joined the effort, collecting donations as part of their sustainable textile project. Drop-off locations include:
- Vital Blends – 12 Dundas Street East, Napanee
- A Loveleigh Place – 6 Mill St E Unit B, Napanee
- Newburgh Clinic – 5 Earl St., Newburgh
- Bryan’s Pharmacy – 235 Gore Rd, Kingston
Organizers are looking for more drop-off spots and encourage the community to donate. Every small contribution helps both the environment and students in need.
