As Super Bowl weekend approaches, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding everyone to celebrate responsibly.
That was Sgt. Ed Sanchuk, who has seen his share of close calls after people spent the night out enjoying the big game.
No one should be surprised when an alcoholic beverage is pulled out at these events, so you have ample time do the right thing.
If you are hosting a party this weekend, Sgt. Sanchuk says it on the responsibility of the party host to make sure people get home safely.
It should be the top of every party hosts list to get a “designated driver” ready – but just make sure those DD’s stay sober.
Sanchuk added that police will be out and ready, so make sure you are sober before you get behind the wheel.
That may mean postponing your morning plans the next day as well.
Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest sporting events of the year, but it is also one of the most dangerous days on the roads due to impaired driving.
- Hosts are also responsible for their guests’ safety.
- Serve measured drinks, provide food, and avoid drinking games.
- Keep cab numbers handy and prevent impaired guests from driving.
