A crash between two tractor trailers shut down Highway 401 for six hours early Friday morning after one truck caught fire.
Ontario Provincial Police say the collision happened just before 6 a.m. on Jan. 31, west of the Gardiners Road off-ramp. An eastbound tractor trailer slammed into another truck parked on the shoulder, causing a fire and closing the highway near Odessa.
Emergency crews, including Frontenac and Lennox & Addington OPP, Kingston Fire Rescue, and Frontenac Paramedic Service, responded quickly. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.
Police say the moving truck was carrying food, while the parked truck was loaded with electronics. Crews worked for hours to remove the wreckage and reopen the highway.
A 31-year-old man from Palgrave has been charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle.
