The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) fundraiser is back in Napanee, aiming to raise important funds for The Morningstar Mission.
Organizer Lynda Carney said in the past they’ve raised a few thousand dollars, but this year they’re looking to match or exceed last years record breaking amount.
Morningstar Mission Executive Director Kevin Alkenbrack shared with myFM they provide 50,000 meals a year and addresses poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness. And that’s just the tip of the ice berg.
The walk, scheduled for February 22, 2025 beginning at 4pm, will begin and end at Trinity United Church, with participants invited for a warm meal and fellowship afterward. Carney says they’re looking to grow the number of teams and walkers who take part.
Morningstar reports growing demand for its services, with 20 new households seeking help every month. Community support remains strong despite economic challenges, ensuring Morningstar can continue providing vital programs for those in need.
